Shoalhaven Council supports a specialist Economic Development Office.

The Economic Development Office has a professional care program to make the establishment/expansion of your business as easy as possible.  Offering one-on-one guidance, they will give you an honest appraisal of your project and help you with Council applications, building business networks and are in constant contact with other Government agencies that may be able to assist you.

Shoalhaven Council also has processes in place to help developers, builders and other applicants - eg structured meetings, electronic DA applications and website guidance on what's required.

The Economic Development Office has a number of projects that involve local business, eg Blue Biotech Shoalhaven, Southern Phone Company, Shoalhaven Defence Industry Group, Albatross Aviation Technology Park and Flinders Industrial Estate.

The Office of Local Goverment

The Office of Local Government strives to work collaboratively with the Local Government sector and it is the key adviser to the NSW Government responsible for local government across NSW. From its decentralised office in Nowra the Office plays a role in the development and implementation of government policy relating to local government with a focus on matters ranging from local government finance, infrastructure delivery, organisational performances and governance. Its investigative team assists to keep councils accountable to their ratepayers and residents.
