Our purpose

Since our inception in 2009, the spba has been a driving force in retaining, developing and attracting professionals in and to the Shoalhaven. With this strong underlying purpose, we have grown to become an integral part of the local business community.

Since our inception in 2009, the spba has been a driving force in retaining, developing and attracting professionals in and to the Shoalhaven. With this strong underlying purpose, we have grown to become an integral part of the local business community.

It all started with the drive, passion and determination of a group of like-minded professionals with the idea of establishing a network. A network tailored to the professionals of the Shoalhaven. A network which would provide mentoring to young professionals, local training and education for experienced professionals, an opportunity for networking and connection with the creation of strategic alliances, and a network which would be the first point of contact for professionals looking to move to the Shoalhaven.

Today, through bespoke programs, created and facilitated by locals, the spba plays a significant role in developing local professionals and supporting those moving to the region. Working collaboratively with our local Council, education providers, business and local professionals, school students are provided with wonderful opportunities to learn about the career opportunities available to them in their local town; our young professionals are paired through our mentoring program with our more experienced professionals to work on strategies of growth and development, and our business owners, leaders and managers are provided with tailored leadership programs which leverage local knowledge, talent and expertise.

For many, these programs and initiatives are career changers, steering and supporting local professionals on paths they only dreamed of before, and all, within the Shoalhaven.

The spba proudly brings to the community a bi-monthly breakfast meeting, always well attended, it is an opportunity to listen and learn to the stories of innovative locals, developing market-leading concepts and services. It is an opportunity to connect, to network, and build mutually beneficial relationships with other professionals in the area. If you haven’t been before, what might start as a room full of strangers, will soon become a room full of friendly and welcoming faces.

We extend our special thanks to Shoalhaven City Council, Economic Development, Productive Shoalhaven and the University of Wollongong, Shoalhaven Campus, for their ongoing support and belief in the spba. We also extend our special thanks to our volunteer committee members who always find time in their busy days to help support and grow our community.

We have a strong and exciting future to look forward to. If you are not already part of the spba, please get in touch, we would love to get to know you.
